SMBC’s recruitment process is designed to be clear, supportive, and consistent across all of our industrial placement opportunities. Below is a step-by-step guide to help you understand what to expect and how to prepare at each stage of the application journey.
1. Online Application & CV Submission
Start by submitting your application through our online portal and uploading your CV. You’ll also be asked to answer a few questions to help us understand your motivations and interest in the programme.
Tip:
Make sure your CV is clear, tailored, and highlights relevant academic, extracurricular, or work experience. Use the application questions to show your enthusiasm for SMBC and the department you're applying to.
2. Interview Session
If successful, shortlisted candidates will be invited to an online interview with colleagues from the department they applied to.
If you are successful in the first stage interview, you will be invited to the second stage consisting of two interviews lasting 30 mins each (back-to-back on the same day). The interview panel will be conducted online and assess these areas:
- Interview: motivation, research, trends, suitability, resilience
