Tobi Watrobski – 2025 Scotland Vacation Scheme/2027 Scottish Trainee
My fortnight with Pinsent Masons was far more than an opportunity to observe from the sidelines… it was an immersive experience at a dynamic firm that has left me with invaluable knowledge and connections. Most importantly, it has helped me to form a very clear plan for my future.
My days were spent as a member of the Construction, Advisory and Disputes (CAD) team in the Edinburgh office. To become acclimatised with the standard and pace of work, I was initially tasked with researching a few contentious points of law. This was followed by an opportunity to read and summarise communications which led to a dispute. All of these tasks related to the team’s ongoing work, and I was excited to be making an active contribution.
The highlight came in the second week, as I was taken to attend a full-day hearing at the Inner House of the Court of Session. I witnessed first-hand the top level of oracy as the advocates and judges exchanged points about the case and I learnt about the manner and importance of thorough preparation and instruction.
The most welcome aspect of my time with Pinsent Masons was, without doubt, its people. From the other summer students to lawyers at every level and the recruitment and facilities teams, everyone was approachable, warm, and made every effort to accommodate me. I organised meetings with several partners at the firm, all of whom found time to answer my questions about their work, the firm and a career in law. There were also several social events, which provided a fantastic opportunity to meet people from across the firm and to socialise and relax in a friendly setting.
I wholeheartedly recommend the placement to everyone, and strongly encourage those who are uncertain to apply. It was a true immersion into life at Pinsent Masons - providing education, experience, and the chance to make friends and forge lasting connections.
