TTI FAQs

What degree do I need?

A degree in business or engineering is highly relevant, but we accept any discipline at a 2:2 level or above.

I do not have much knowledge of the industry - should I still apply?

If you have knowledge of our industry and what we do or have any trade experience, that's great, but we also strongly encourage those who are practically minded with a can-do attitude and a drive to succeed to apply. We are looking to build a diverse group of graduates with a range of transferable skills who are keen to develop long-term careers and grasp any potential leadership opportunities.

What skills are you looking for?

You will need to be a confident/influential communicator, who has a positive, can-do attitude with a drive/resilience to achieve results. We value your flexibility and ability to thrive and make decisions in a multi-functional team. You will be representing our brands across different channels and as such, building relationships with our customers, suppliers and trade channels, generating sales and demonstrating our products.

You will need to have an organised approach to structuring your day and your appointments. You will work independently but will be very much part of a wider team. You will take a pride in your work and our brand.

Will I receive feedback if my application is unsuccessful?

If you attend one of our assessment centres, then if requested, we will provide you with feedback which we hope you will find useful. Unfortunately, due to the high number of applications we receive, we are unable to provide individual feedback if your application is unsuccessful at the earlier stages.

Where will I be based?

Roles are territory-based and we will ask you to apply for a specific location(s). You will be expected to travel within your region most days, for which a branded company van and fuel card will be provided.  Your home will be your administrative base.

When and how will I be promoted from the FME role?

Your duration in the FME role varies according to merit, business opportunity and the direction you wish to pursue.  However, all our selections are guided by fair and equitable criteria.

A typical progression after 15 months, sees FMEs move into our Job Site Solutions teamfollowing mentoring and shadowing.  After at least 18 months in this position, next stage opportunities include key accounts, area sales or national account management.

In an organisation as large and successful as TTI, there is no shortage of opportunities to progress at every stage.

What training will I receive?

At TTI, we offer a comprehensive range of training – from in-depth product knowledge to recognised courses such as negotiation, selling and presentation skills.

Throughout the training, there will be additional support and guidance from mentoring and shadowing others.

All aspects of learning and development are designed to build your core capability and prepare you for progression into broader commercial roles.

When will I receive my first review?

All FMEs will have an annual review after 12 months in the role – where performance is assessed against pre-defined objectives.

Throughout the Graduate Programme, training, support and guidance are always provided.
