About the ACCA Qualification

The ACCA Qualification combines technical knowledge, ethical judgement, and practical experience to prepare you for a wide range of roles. It is globally recognised and highly valued by employers across all sectors.

To achieve the qualification, you need to complete three levels of exams, the Ethics & Professional Skills module, and 36 months (3 years) of practical experience in a relevant role. This structure ensures that you gain both the academic knowledge and workplace skills needed to succeed in your career.

The exam levels are:

  1. Applied Knowledge – foundational accounting, business, and finance techniques
  2. Applied Skills – intermediate topics such as financial reporting, auditing, taxation, etc.
  3. Strategic Professional – advanced, strategic, and leadership-focused content, with optional specialisms

How to get started

There’s no one 'right way' in — just the route that’s right for you. With ACCA you can begin your journey towards a rewarding finance career at the right level for you whatever your education or experience. You don’t need to be a maths genius or have a finance degree.

  • If you have a relevant degree, you may be able to start at a higher level and get exemptions from some exams and progress faster.
  • If not, you would start at the level appropriate to your qualification, such as our Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) route, to build core skills.
