Job Specification

A350 Chief Engineer’s Team - Product Development and Support Internship.

We are looking for a great intern to join our friendly, self-motivated team. In the UK we look after many aspects of A350 Wing, Landing Gear, Fuel, and Inerting system design and development.

We work closely with other teams to ensure the safety and airworthiness of both people and aircraft.

About us

We are a small team that lead aircraft development projects by specifying technical requirements, managing and influencing other engineering teams to deliver “best for aircraft” solutions, and solving problems.

We also actively support aircraft assembly and aircraft in-service - you will be a full member of the team!

What you will be doing:

  • Working with the Chief Engineering team on product evolution of the A350 family to increase sustainability and cost and boost performance. You will help define aircraft technologies and requirements, attend regular team meetings and contribute to product development ideas and deliverables.
  • Building your team and network skills by liaising with teams like Engineering, Airworthiness, Safety and Procurement to ensure that an integrated solution is achieved quickly and efficiently.
  • Developing yourself by enhancing your confidence, communication skills, your technical capability and working with people – all with our support.
  • You will gain a top level appreciation of aircraft development and an understanding of the decision making processes involved in complex aerospace industry projects.
  • You will have flexibility and ownership of tasks across a range of disciplines.
  • You will work with a highly experienced team who will both pass on knowledge to you and will expect to listen and learn from your contributions and experiences.

Skills

Please note, we love your interest in working for Airbus but we do ask that you make only one application. We encourage you to take time to decide which of our exciting opportunities is right for you and then submit an application that best represents you, your skills and experience in connection with the role you have selected.

One application: Make It Possible, Make It Happen, Make It … Count!

Please note our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

  • That you are an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.
  • That you are working towards a degree in a relevant engineering discipline as an academic qualification
  • That you have a good sense of self, with an empathic approach, capable of building relationships, self-reflecting and listening – but also happy to speak up and contribute your opinions and ideas
  • That you are comfortable with taking the initiative and working with an open scope.
  • Familiar with MS Office-like applications; Google Suite experience would be very beneficial.
  • Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to summarise complex issues and communicate clearly, both in verbal and written forms as well as in front of audiences. (Yes, presentation practice!)
  • Prepared to travel between UK and European sites, if required.

Please ensure that a covering letter detailing motivations and suitability for this position is included in your application.

Benefits

  • £18,000 salary
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
