Our 10-week UK Investment Banking Summer Internship is designed for high-achieving students who want real exposure, real responsibility, and a clear pathway into a full-time investment banking career.
The internship offers meaningful exposure to live transactions, close collaboration with experienced professionals, and a supportive environment focused on learning, development, and progression.
How the programme works
Week 1: Foundations
Your internship begins with a structured induction designed to set you up for success, including:
- Insight sessions with senior business leaders
- Classroom-based technical and market training
- A full introduction to Berenberg’s culture, people and platform
Weeks 2–10: Part of the team
You’ll be embedded within our UK Investment Banking team, gaining hands-on experience across:
- Equity capital markets
- Corporate finance
- M&A advisory
You’ll also be paired with a senior mentor who will support your development, answer questions, and help you get the most out of your performance throughout the programme.
Top performers will be fast-tracked to interview for a place on our Investment Bank Graduate Programme starting in October 2027.
The team
The UK Investment Banking team advises UK-listed companies across a broad range of industries and market capitalisations. Clients include management teams, founders, private equity sponsors, and institutional shareholders.
The team provides advice on:
- Initial public offerings (IPOs)
- Capital increases and secondary offerings
- Equity-linked transactions
- Mergers and acquisitions
Interns work closely with Corporate Finance and ECM specialists, contributing to both transaction execution and strategic advisory work.
What you’ll do
Interns will support the team in delivering high-quality client service and transaction execution, including:
- Assisting senior bankers on live transactions and client engagements
- Preparing marketing, transaction, and investor materials
- Conducting detailed financial analysis, valuation work, and company screening
- Supporting due diligence processes and reviewing transaction documentation
- Contributing to pitches and origination initiatives across sectors
- Responsibilities are tailored to provide a rigorous and rewarding learning experience.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for driven, curious, and high-performing students who thrive in demanding environments.
You’ll likely have:
- Strong academic performance (expected or achieved 2:1 or above)
- A genuine interest in investment banking and financial markets
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills
- Confidence communicating ideas clearly and professionally
- Previous internship or relevant experience in investment banking
Eligibility
- Penultimate-year student, graduating in summer 2027
- Students from all degree disciplines encouraged to apply
- Expected or achieved 2:1 or above
- Minimum AAB at A-Level (or equivalent)
- Fluency in English required; additional languages are an advantage
- Right to work in the UK for the full duration of the programme
