    What will you be doing?

    BPA’s work revolves around the downstream oil & gas distribution sector (pipelines, storage depots, road & rail terminals, pump stations, etc.) and you’ll be delivering engineering assignments ranging from desktop studies and discipline design through to full project management of design, procurement, and site delivery as part of a wider BPA project team.

    As a Project Engineer you will be working as part of the Operational Technology Team to deliver projects that are key to maintaining the safe operation of the pipeline and terminal assets under BPA’s management.

    You will take an ownership of your work, delivering to an agreed programme and budget, while effectively managing your supply chain, the procurement of materials and equipment, and leading specialist support providers and contractors.

    We are looking for Project Engineers (or recent Graduate) with either a Controls and Instrumentation, Systems, Automation or Electrical discipline.

    In Summary

    • You will develop engineering designs relating to SCADA / ESD / PLC and networks in accordance with company, client, national and international standards ensuring good engineering practices are maintained throughout.
    • You will deliver works to agreed cost ant time parameters using effective project management and financial control.
    • You will provide project control from initial approval through to commissioning and handover.
    • You will maintain good client relationships to help secure continuing business.
    • You will prepare proposals, develop manhour estimates, services and material budgets, outlining programmes and technical detail for prospective clients.

    What do we need from you?

    • An interest in the energy sector, with sustainability / energy savings in mind.
    • Appropriate Engineering Degree (e.g., Controls and Instrumentation / Electrical / Automation); preferably a Member of Professional Engineering Institution.
    • Awareness of Industry Control Systems (DCS, ESD, SCADA, PLCs).
    • Organisational skills and attention to detail – define a problem, collect data, establish the facts of an argument, draw valid conclusions.
    • Literate, with confident oral skills and the ability to present yourself and your arguments well.
    • Flexibility, adaptability and a ‘can do’ approach – the work is a mix of desk and site based engineering (often on high hazard industrial sites), with inevitable changing / conflicting priorities!
    • Valid UK driving licence
