    Duration: 3 years 

    Starting salary:  £28,840 (£45k to £55k after successful completion of the scheme and promotion)

    What could I be involved in as a Generalist Fast Streamer?  

    On this scheme you’ll work on issues of national importance, driving forward policies and delivering operations that change society for the better.  

    As a Generalist Fast Streamer, you’ll establish your strengths and leadership potential by taking on a wide variety of roles. You’ll have postings in different departments, from the Cabinet Office to the Department for Work and Pensions among others, across the country. You’ll also be exposed to roles in different government professions including Corporate Services, Operational Delivery and Policy.   

    It’s an opportunity to build a depth of knowledge across a variety of areas. With each role you take, you’ll build a different set of skills, with emphasis on your leadership development.  

    Growing your knowledge, skills and experience 

    The scheme starts with a comprehensive induction before you start your first posting. Each 12-month posting will enable you to keep building core leadership skills as well as your understanding of government. In your second year, you may also have a secondment to a charity or a different area of the public sector to support your development.  

    Day-to-day contact with a manager based in your department will ensure you’re challenged and supported in your role. We’ll also support your growth with e-learning, posting-specific learning and action learning sets, as well as performance assessments to identify any further development needs.  

    To apply, you’ll need

    • Eligibility to work in the UK. 
    • A 2:2 or higher (or be expecting to achieve this) in any degree subject, including degree apprenticeships.
