What could I be involved in as a Government Policy fast streamer?
On this scheme you’ll be at the heart of the Civil Service, helping turn government commitments into reality. Supporting ministers with objective and impartial advice, you’ll work with other Civil Service professions and stakeholder networks to design and oversee the delivery of government policy. You’ll learn how to approach issues strategically, tactically and creatively, developing ideas to achieve ministerial objectives and meet key government priorities. And, as you grow an understanding of the systems of government, you’ll learn how to navigate the complexities of Parliament and positively impact citizen’s lives across the UK.
Training includes
With a structured curriculum delivered by the Policy Profession, you’ll work to gain a postgraduate award in Public Policy and develop competence in all aspects of the Policy Profession Standards focusing on Strategy, Democracy and Delivery. Placements across three different departments will enable you to develop a range of technical policy skills. You’ll grow your experience working with colleagues across government and gain exposure to different types of work throughout the policy development and delivery cycle. This will be complemented by ongoing leadership and management training, as well as a variety of networking and other development opportunities.
