Information about the WIRED Summer Internship
WIRED functions as a global newsroom, creating content across a wide variety of channels, and collaborates closely with colleagues in the US, Italy, Japan and more to bring our stories to a worldwide audience. The UK team is small but impactful, with a direct hand in all our operations, ranging from digital to video, live events to print, and bespoke consultation work to commercial partnerships.
What will you be doing?
- The WIRED intern will be participating fully in our daily operations, working with colleagues in our London HQ, and on the East and West Coasts of the US in a unified global newsroom.
- The intern will be expected to attend meetings and generate ideas for all of WIRED’s outputs; pitching, reporting, and writing stories as required; researching and fact-checking; liaising with contributors; and performing other tasks across our digital, video, print, and live platforms.
Who you are
- WIRED is looking for an enthusiastic intern to work across its multiple channels.
- The successful candidate will be a highly literate team player who is full of ideas, always curious, very energetic—and keen to learn.
- A passion for technology, science, innovation, business and culture is a must, as is an eye for detail.
- We’re not only interested in journalism students—science and computing undergraduates looking to work in journalism are strongly encouraged to apply—but we expect all applicants to be able to provide examples of journalistic work and experience that demonstrate an understanding and enthusiasm for WIRED’s world, as well as proven writing ability.
