The D. E. Shaw group seeks motivated, intellectually curious students to join the firm’s Investor Relations (IR) team as interns. This team plays a pivotal role in supporting current and prospective investors by providing insight into the operational workings of the firm and its funds. IR interns collaborate with a global team of investor relations professionals to learn about the firm’s investment strategies, products, and clients in a collegial work environment. This is a ten-week program that is expected to run from June to August 2027.
What you’ll do day-to-day
- Take on projects that require rigorous analytical thinking and creative problem solving.
- Responsibilities may include helping enhance various communication efforts, conducting prospect- and investor-focused research, participating in brainstorming sessions with colleagues, or attending meetings with investors.
Who we’re looking for
- An impressive record of academic achievement with demonstrated intellectual curiosity and keen analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a structured approach to solving problems and driving projects forward, and exceptional attention to detail.
- A client-focused approach, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Curiosity to learn more about corporate strategy, capital markets, or the economy.
- Experience with consulting, venture capital, economic research, or product management/strategy through clubs or internships is a plus but not required.
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program in any field of study; no previous finance experience is necessary. Students who apply to this internship are usually approaching their final year of full-time study.
The applicable annual base salary or hourly rate paid to a successful applicant will be determined based on multiple factors, including without limitation the nature and extent of prior experience and educational background.
