What does this team do?
Audit matters to everyone, even if you've never heard the word before. When a company shares its financial results, people need to know those numbers are accurate. That's where audit comes in. We check company financial reports independently, so the public, investors and businesses can trust what they're seeing. It's a job that protects people, and it genuinely makes a difference.
In IT Audit, we help organisations identify and manage technology risks that could impact financial reporting and business performance. As an IT Auditor, you will identify technology-related risks, evaluate the effectiveness of IT controls and cybersecurity measures, and assess the impact of emerging technologies, such as AI, cloud computing, and automation, on an organisation's control environment. Working alongside financial audit teams and the companies we audit, you will provide practical insights that support high-quality audits and strengthen trust in technology-enabled processes.
You will gain exposure to a wide range of organisations, from large global businesses to smaller entities, developing both technical and professional skills. This role offers a unique opportunity to understand how technology supports business objectives. It will enable you to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and impactful way.
By helping ensure the integrity of financial reporting, you will contribute to building confidence and trust in organisations and the wider market.
What skills and academic qualifications do I need?
This programme is for university students who are doing well academically and want to test their skills in the real world.
You need to be on track to achieve a predicted degree classification of 2:1 or above in any discipline. You must also be in the penultimate year of your course.

What kind of work will I do?
This four-week placement puts you at the heart of our business, surrounded by experts who can help you flourish. You’ll do real work from day one, using what you’ve learnt at university to help solve complex problems.
- Stakeholder management: Working in teams and building relationships both within the IT specialist team as well as financial audit and beyond.
- Risk Assessment: Identifying and evaluating risks associated with company’s use of technology.
- Control Testing: Assessing IT controls design and perform testing of implementation and operating effectiveness to provide assurance on smooth operation of controls throughout the review period. This includes gathering and analysing evidence in line with audit methodology and standards.
- Communication: Build effective working relationships across IT audit team, financial audit team, and the companies we audit to support the delivery of high-quality audits.
- Reporting: Communicate findings clearly and concisely, contributing to audit documentation, reporting, and stakeholder discussions.
- Innovation: Contributing to the continuous improvement of our audit processes, enhancing efficiency and providing greater insights to the companies we audit.
Where will I work?
At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We value both in-person collaboration and the flexibility that allows for a healthy work-life balance. We operate a hybrid work model, combining office and remote work arrangements. While client-facing roles may require on-site visits, your meetings will be a blend of virtual and in-person interactions. Your initial induction and final assessment will be conducted in person, providing valuable networking and relationship-building opportunities.
