The Major Injury and Casualty team at DWF is one of the largest in the UK and is nationally recognised. We act for a large number of well-known insurers, many of whom are household names, dealing with complex, catastrophic and large loss claims; resulting in an interesting and rewarding set of cases for you to work on.

We are currently looking for a motivated Paralegal to the team in our Bristol office. As a Paralegal, you will assist senior team members who deal with a range of high-value files (up to £20 million), including injuries of utmost severity.

This role offers a hybrid working pattern from our Bristol office, with 2/3 days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

  • To assist senior members of the team with the progression of personal injury cases through the litigation process, including assisting with disclosure, witness and expert evidence and preparing for trials/JSMs.
  • To act as a trusted member of the team whilst taking responsibility of tasks, including updating files, reviewing confidential records and, liaising with third parties.
  • Engage with clients and other stakeholders to gather and organise information.
  • Provide administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the legal team.
  • Action cases in line with the department’s and client’s service standards and protocols.

What will help you succeed in this role?

Essential

  • A genuine interest OR practical experience handling a defendant caseload, including Employer’s Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL), Road Traffic Accidents (RTA), personal injury, or catastrophic injury work.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively while working to deadlines.
  • Basic to intermediate IT skills, including confident keyboard use and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with a range of stakeholders.
  • A flexible approach, with a willingness to learn and engage in training and development opportunities.
  • Well‑developed administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage workloads efficiently.
  • Ability to work to agreed service levels and deadlines.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to accurately review files and handle sensitive information appropriately.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a busy commercial or professional services environment.
