We need Environmental Analysts to help us use data to protect and improve England’s natural environment.
You will use your data analysis and reporting skills to work collaboratively in small, friendly teams. Working with important datasets generated through our environmental monitoring work, our regulatory activities and the research and modelling that helps us understand how the climate and pressures on land, water and biota are changing.
Your work could include
- analysing large environmental datasets
- creating accessible data, mapping, and visualisation products
- presenting findings to internal colleagues to inform decision-making
- improving data management and data quality
- supporting IT and data projects
The role will suit candidates with a scientific or environmental degree, a keen interest in the environment and enthusiasm for working with data.
You’ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided.
During your traineeship, you will have the opportunity to work on other projects and in other teams including a chance to work with area operational teams to see the work that they do and the ways in which we help support it. You will be expected to grow you interest and experience in biodiversity throughout this time with a view to become a member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do, you'll be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment. Full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

Our teams leading work on water strategy, water industry transformation, nature recovery, fisheries management and agriculture have lots of interesting opportunities to support our work with Government, national and local partners.
Experience/skills required
You will be someone with a genuine interest in the environment, with a degree (or equivalent) in the subject and/or a proven track record (paid or voluntary) of working in the sector.
To be eligible for this role you will need to meet ALL the following criteria:

- You are a UK, Commonwealth or EEA (European Economic Area) national
- You have the right to work in the UK
Criteria 2
- Must have a minimum of a honours degree in environmental science or equivalent subject
- Driving Licence
