Build real tax experience and shape your future career .

Programme overview

On the Tax Graduate Programme, you’ll shape the future with confidence, helping clients navigate evolving tax laws that impact every aspect of society. Working with organisations from start-ups to global multinationals, you’ll collaborate with technologists and tax specialists, using innovative, agile approaches to deliver tailored solutions, build future-focused skills, and make a real impact on businesses and communities.

Along the way, you’ll study towards a globally recognised Chartered Accountancy qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS). With the option of Chartered Tax Advisor (CIOT), or Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) and Chartered Tax Advisor (CIOT) joint qualification.

Core skills for success

  • Collaboration – Work as part of a team, building relationships as you contribute to client work and a group case study.
  • Analytical thinking – Make sense of financial information and client data to support tax work and identify risks or inconsistencies.
  • Adaptability – Stay organised and flexible as you balance tasks, learning sessions and case study deadlines during a fast-paced programme.
  • Ownership and accountability – Deliver accurate work you can stand behind, taking feedback on board to improve quality and confidence.
  • Digital fluency – Use technology and data in a practical way to support how tax work is delivered and solutions are developed.

What you will be doing

  • Support teams with real client work by preparing and checking information that feeds into tax deliverables and risk considerations.
  • Learn how tax impacts organisations and society, including how we advise on tax affairs, tax risk policies, sustainability strategies and the use of technology in delivery.
  • Build important relationships with clients through meetings and day-to-day work.
  • Receive regular mentoring to help you develop the skills to coach and manage onshore and offshore resources, supporting the delivery of your work.

Eligibility for applying

You’ll need a minimum of Level 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths; three A-levels/5 Highers (or equivalent); and a Honours Degree (in any subject) by the time the programme starts.

While we welcome applications from candidates of all academic backgrounds, we are looking to recruit individuals who will succeed at EY in the role and future qualifications. We have completed several studies on academic attainment at A level (or equivalents), candidate performance in the online assessments in the EY recruitment process, and how that predicts future performance at EY.

Throughout the recruitment process, we therefore assess your suitability for the EY role you have applied to by considering your scores in the online assessments and your academic attainment at A level or equivalent. This approach is designed to ensure our joiners are successful in role and, where relevant, in the achievement of their professional qualifications. It is important to EY, and we have a duty of care which we take very seriously, to ensure our joiners are set up for long-term success.
