Great minds. Nothing alike.
Get to know us, our clients and start learning more about yourself. As an intern in our Actuarial & Insurance Consulting team, you'll join us for four weeks for an opportunity to get stuck in with real responsibility, gain an insight into life as a trainee and fast track to a graduate role. Please note, the internship programme will run from Monday 30th June to Friday 25th July 2025. You must be available for the full duration of the programme.
Our Advisory Actuarial & Insurance Consulting practice is comprised of around 45 individuals led by two partners, who work closely with other teams within Grant Thornton around the UK, as well as Grant Thornton International. Our clients are typically insurance companies and pension funds; however, we also work with clients from sectors such as statistical analysis, modelling and predictive analytics. There’ll definitely be challenges along the way, as you explore different businesses to identify and analyse areas vulnerable to risk. But you’ll be supported and able to meet each one with a solution. That’s how you excel here.
Actuarial & Insurance consultancy is about quantifying risk for companies using different scenarios and working out how to mitigate it. We use our analytical skills to provide financial and risk management advice to our clients. In addition to the traditional actuarial services (business strategy, price modelling, profit testing, closed fund transfers etc.), we also assist our clients to model complex liabilities and investments, implement big data, predictive analytics and machine learning solutions. The work is varied, and no two assignments are the same.
A look into your future
Your internship will start with an orientation where you’ll get to know your new colleagues and fellow interns, and immerse yourself in our business, vision and purpose. Being able to see the bigger picture and then focus on the specific client's issues is essential. You’ll also be supported every step of the way by our team.
Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll experience during your four weeks with us:
- Hands on experience in the different aspects of Actuarial and Insurance services
- Responsibility and the opportunity to take ownership for interesting and challenging client work
- You’ll develop a strong internal and external network to learn from
- Working closely with colleagues to provide robust challenge and market leading insights to help clients meet their regulatory needs and business objectives
- On the job learning, alongside a structured training programme
- At the end of the programme, you’ll have gained a wide range of skills and experience which will support your learning and development back at university and when you return to the workplace
