The team & the role
This role will be to assist the Storyliners and Story Producer to develop and write storylines for Emmerdale. Generating story ideas and producing robust storylines to deadlines agreed with the Producers and Story Producer. In this role you will also talk through storylines, generate, write and edit storylines and be responsible for the administrative tasks required within the department .
Skills you’ll need
- Imagination, a creative mind and strong story instinct.
- Thorough knowledge and love of Emmerdale.
- Excellent writing skills and a good eye for spelling and detail.
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of characters, storylines and episode structure along with the ability to write clearly, concisely and in keeping with the Emmerdale house style.
- Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to defend and debate story ideas.
- Strong IT skills, with the willingness to learn the software used in Storylining.
- Passionate about Storylining and building a career within the editorial department.
- Experience working in a fast paced environment whilst maintaining a high quality of work.
- Knowledge and understanding of TV production processes.
Other things we’re looking for
- Experience working in film , TV or theatre (paid or unpaid) or completed a related course/training.
- Experience of communicating and debating story ideas within large groups.
- An awareness of audience needs.
- Planning and organisation – the ability to think ahead and establish a course of action for self and others.
- Strong decision making – ready and able to take initiative.
- The ability to work to tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
- Strong team player but also the ability to use own initiative.
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Able to demonstrate good editorial judgement.
