A leading global entertainment company with a strong and diversified presence in audio-visual entertainment is seeking an Acquisitions Assistant to support the Head of Acquisitions & Co-Productions in identifying, evaluating, and securing film content for distribution. This role involves administrative support, tracking market trends, industry research and managing talent, industry and internal business relationships.

The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for film, excellent organisational skills, and a keen understanding of the commercial aspects of film acquisitions. Key responsibilities

  • Industry & Talent Relationships: Handle a high volume of industry and talent relationships, maintaining and tracking key contacts.
  • Market Research & Analysis: Conduct research on film industry trends, box office performance, and competitor acquisitions to inform decision-making.
  • Film Tracking: Monitor and track films in various stages of development, keeping up-to-date records.
  • Festival & Market Support: Assist in the preparation for major film festivals and markets (e.g., Cannes, Berlinale, TIFF, AFM), including scheduling meetings and maintaining festival tracking documents.
  • Screening & Evaluation: Help organise and track screenings for internal teams, gathering feedback and maintaining screening reports.
  • Script Management: Coordinate and oversee all script submissions, and ensure all submission outcomes (Pass, Offer Out, Waiting) are accurately recorded.
  • Deal Support: Assist in the preparation of offer letters, term sheets, and deal summaries, working closely with legal and finance teams.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate records of acquisitions, contracts, and film rights, ensuring all documentation is up to date.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise between Marketing, Sales, Legal, and the US team to ensure seamless communication and workflow.
  • Presentation Support: Assist in preparing pitch decks, reports, and presentations for internal and external meetings.
  • Database Management: Maintain and update acquisitions databases, ensuring accurate and comprehensive records of films under consideration.
  • General Support: Provide day-to-day administrative support to the acquisitions team, including diary management, travel arrangements, and expenses processing.

Skills & experience desired

  • Passion for Film: A strong interest in film and a solid understanding of the industry, including key players, genres, and market trends.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Organisational Skills: Excellent time management and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong eye for accuracy in managing contracts, reports, and databases.
  • Proactive & Resourceful: Self-motivated with a can-do attitude, able to anticipate needs and take initiative.
  • Administrative Experience: Previous experience in an administrative or assistant role, preferably within film, media, or entertainment.
  • Research & Analytical Skills: Ability to gather and analyse data to support acquisitions decision-making.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and familiarity with film tracking tools or databases (e.g., Comscore, Screendaily, IMDbPro) is a plus.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work flexibly from time to time when Head of Acquisitions is away attending markets.

Preferred qualifications

  • A degree in Film Studies, Media, Business, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in a film acquisitions, sales, or distribution environment is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of international film markets and festival circuits is a plus.
