    The Met Office is delighted to open our advertising for a number of progressive Industrial Placements, which will commence from July 2024 until July 2025.

    We’re looking for an exceptional Design and Content - Industrial Placement 2024 to help us make a difference to our planet.

    As our Design and Content - Industrial Placement 2024 you will work a hybrid pattern and will be on site at Exeter HQ. As a minimum we'd like you to spend at least two days a week in the design studio, to get the most from your placement. You can choose to work more frequently in our state-of-the-art office if you'd prefer.

    As our Design and Content - Industrial Placement 2024, your starting salary will be £25606.00.

    Whilst this is a temporary position, there is potential for it to develop into an opportunity to join our Graduate Development scheme once you complete your University studies.

    Job Purpose

    This is an exciting opportunity to join the Met Office on a 12-month Year In Industry placement, developing your skills and knowledge and ensuring you gain the most value possible from your experience with us. You will have the opportunity to network with our cohort of Industrial Placement all over the Met Office and understand what career opportunities we can offer you after you graduate.

    As our Design and Content - Industrial Placement 2024, your key responsibilities are to:

    • Create (design, film, edit) engaging social media content for a range of channels.
    • Be proactive, seizing the opportunity to get involved and try new things.
    • Work with a range of people across the organisation to make engaging science communication
    • Actively participate in brainstorming sessions
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends across social media
    • Contribute, when required, to other content such as broadcast studio operation, live broadcasts and social media monitoring
    • Be keen to develop your design and animation skills taking on a range of briefs, including infographics, posters and presentations.

    Essential Qualifications,Skills & Abilities

    1. Experience of creating social media content (designing, filming, editing)
    2. A track record of being proactive with examples of trying new things / learning new skills
    3. Excellent communication and project management skills
    4. The desire to stay up-to-date with who is creating amazing content
    5. Evidence of working well as part of a team.
    6. A strong portfolio of multi-channel work with experience using Adobe Creative Suite

    Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
