We are currently looking for an Assistant ESG Manager to join the team. The role will be based on the Keystone project at The University of Glasgow. This is an early career role reporting to our ESG Lead; the suitable candidate will receive guidance and training to support them into this role.
The role
The Assistant ESG Manager supports delivery of environmental sustainability, carbon management, social value, ethical labour and community engagement activities across projects. It contributes to ESG reporting and helps maintain relationships with project teams, subcontractors and community stakeholders.
The responsibilities of the Assistant ESG Manager will include
- Supporting the work relating to the ESG Strategy and promoting this within the project team.
- Contributing to annual reporting (e.g. ESG Report, Social Value Portal, TCFD).
- Assisting with the implementation of Multiplex's Environmental Management System and Ethical Labour Management System.
- Participating in internal and external audits.
- Supporting the project's understanding of contractual carbon targets.
- Engaging with Package Managers in the preparation, monitoring and reporting of specific package carbon budgets.
- Supporting drafting of project‑specific environmental sustainability and social value requirements for CR1 and CR2 documentation.
- Building relationships with educational establishments, local groups, charitable works and volunteering opportunities.
- Assisting project teams in maximising opportunities for local employment, skills and businesses.
- Assisting with preparing project‑specific environmental assessment matrices and drafting a Responsible Sourcing Plan.
- Ensuring accurate information is stored on Aconex for environmental assessments.
- Assisting with set‑up of project on SmartWaste and ensure monthly reporting is completed and adequately QA'd.
- Monitoring of subcontractor environmental performance and relevant KPIs.
- Submitting information as required for companywide reporting such as SteelZero and ConcreteZero.
- Carrying out worker interviews and supporting supply chain ethical labour audits.
What do you need to be successful in this role?
- Degree in sustainability, environmental studies, engineering, or a related discipline such as geography or social policy. We welcome applications from graduates and undergraduates completing their studies in June 2026.
- Any relevant work placements or experience would be advantageous.
