The role
Design
Design Engineers support the design of various aero engine and other aerospace mechanical and electrical parts. Designs include turbine blades, casings, switchboards, engine fabrications etc. Our engineers apply their understanding of materials, functional and performance requirements, tolerance stack up, thermal, vibration and life requirements to deliver designs of these components.
This team are required to interact with many specialist areas such as materials, stress, lifing and manufacturing engineering to deliver a robust design.
Manufacturing engineering
Engineers support Process planning, Inspection planning, CNC and CMM programming, Zero Defect across components such as turbine and compressor blades, casings, engine fabrications etc. Our engineers apply their understanding of manufacturing methods and metrology to delivering manufactured components starting from Process planning to non-conformance analysis to drive reduction in manufacturing defects.
In your placement, you will be able to understand the product development and delivery lifecycle. You would also have an appreciation of how design is converted into the finished components and assembled into finished products.
About you
Qualifications and technical requirements
- Currently on an academic course to Degree Level in Engineering or Science or similar
- An understanding of Gas Turbine Design/operation would be an advantage
Desired skills
- Basic familiarity with Gas Turbine components
- Familiar with a quality CAD system such as Siemens NX
