We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Graduate Environmental Health Officer to join the Rochdale Environmental Health team; you will be someone who is well on the way to completing a relevant qualification or is ready to work on their CIEH portfolio.

The role

In the Graduate role you will be working on similar cases to the EHO but will also be being supported to gain experience in all EH teams to complete your training.

In addition to working in the EH team, you will also work for two days per week alongside colleagues in the Greater Manchester Business Compliance Support team, providing advice to businesses to help them comply and thrive, focusing on the key regulatory areas of environmental health, trading standards and licensing.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting out in their environmental health career.

About you

The ideal Graduate EHO candidate will have or in the process of completing a degree, or other relevant qualification in Environmental Health. You will have a good knowledge of environmental health related legislation and its application, good communication skills and the ability to manage a diverse workload effectively. You will be passionate about environmental health and want to help businesses navigate complex legislation and regulations, crucial for their growth.

For 3 days per week you will be based in our purpose-built, award winning offices in Rochdale town centre, recently transformed through a multi-million pound regeneration programme. For 2 days per week you will be based with the GM Business Compliance Support Hub working in the Manchester Town Hall extension.

As an employee of the Council, you will have access to a range of benefits, including generous annual leave package to support a healthy worklife balance, confidential wellbeing services, and discounted Your Trust Fitness Membership with access to gyms, pools, fitness classes, and more.
