Description & scope

As a Health, Safety, and Facilities Intern, you will fully integrate into a small, fast-paced team managing one of the largest SLB sites in the UK. This office-based role reports directly to the HSE function and offers a comprehensive, hands-on introduction to corporate safety and facilities management.

  • Daily operations: Provide day-to-day support across Health & Safety and Facilities Management, including documentation and administrative tasks.
  • Site communications: Help coordinate site-wide updates, organize logistics, and roll out local and corporate safety initiatives.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Engage with diverse teams through regular safety committees, monthly communications, and “Design for HSE” initiatives.
  • Continuous improvement: Analyze safety and process data to proactively suggest, scope, and implement high-impact site improvements.

Deliverables

  • Completing workplace inspections and audits.
  • Updating risk assessment registers (internship project topic).
  • Incident and near-miss investigation and reporting.
  • Safety awareness materials (posters, briefings, toolbox talks).
  • Action tracking.
  • Building inspection reports and action lists.
  • Maintenance schedule updates and completion tracking.
  • Asset inventory and register updates.
  • Facilities improvement project recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Studying Bachelors in Engineering (Electrical / Chemical / CAD exposure), Architecture (Industrial facilities / Building Management / HVAC systems), Health and Safety or a related discipline.
  • Digital skills (e.g. SharePoint / Data / Power Automate / Power BI / CAD).
  • Data analysis and KPI reporting.
  • SAP knowledge.
  • Auditing skills / experience (ISO 9001/14001/45001).
  • IOSH / NEBOSH advantageous.
