Programme overview

Scotiabank offers a fantastic summer internship opportunity to gain experience within our London Investment Banking division covering the Upstream Energy and Metals & Mining sectors commencing in June 2026.

This 10-week programme is designed for students in their penultimate year of study who are eager to learn and have a passion for M&A. The role provides exposure to a stimulating and dynamic environment which offers practical, hands-on experience working with top professionals and senior leaders of the Bank.

What you can expect

During the programme, you will:

  • Research various companies, assets and transactions using public and private information sources to prepare meaningful analyses
  • Support with drafting prospectuses, documentation and marketing presentations for the relevant Upstream Energy and Metals & Mining sectors transactions
  • Participate in strategic discussions concerning new and existing business opportunities for clients and effectively translate these ideas into client pitches and presentations
  • Maintain and update company and transaction databases
  • Maintain Scotiabank and Global Investment Banking – Upstream Energy and Metals & Mining qualifications/credentials for use in marketing opportunities and pitches
  • Where appropriate, work closely with and assist deal teams on live transactions, helping them to provide timely client support
  • Assist in building detailed financial models
  • Provide assistance to the Investment Banking team in the execution of their daily tasks
  • Deliver a final presentation to leaders within Investment Banking

Who we’re looking for

  • You are a penultimate year university student graduating in summer 2027
  • We welcome applications from any degree discipline
  • You are available for a 10-week internship from June to end of August 2026
  • You have a clearly defined interest in Investment Banking and M&A, particularly in the Upstream Energy and Metals & Mining sectors
  • You have strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory
  • You have an understanding of valuation modelling (Discounted Cash Flow Analysis)
  • You have experience working with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • You possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work
  • You have excellent attention to detail and quick to adapt to new situations
  • You are eligible to work in the United Kingdom
