Transform the everyday: Launch your career at Siemens!

Create real impact from day one

At Siemens, we create technology that transforms the everyday. Whether you’re passionate about tech, engineering, sustainability, or business strategy, you won’t just be watching from the sidelines - you’ll contribute to real-world projects that shape industries and communities across the UK.

What will you be doing?

You’ll join our IT Division team based in Poole, with an expectation of attending the office 2–3 days per week. We encourage regular collaboration on-site to help you connect and learn from industry leaders, with flexible hybrid options to suit your lifestyle.

This 12-month internship offers an exciting opportunity to join our IT team and contribute to meaningful digital projects. When you apply, you’ll be considered for a general IT internship and if successful, you will be placed into one of the two roles below depending on where your strengths and interests best align. Our managers will assess which position is the best fit for you, ensuring you get the most out of your experience.

IT Intern: User Engagement

Your role will include:

  • Running interactive workshops that make learning engaging and practical and help colleagues build confidence in using technology.
  • Creating clear, user-friendly guides and resources that make digital tools and processes easier to understand and use.
  • Offering personalised support to colleagues, helping them get the most out of technology and overcome day-to-day challenges.
  • Gathering feedback and ideas from users to understand their needs and help shape improvements to IT solutions.
  • Developing and delivering AI literacy training sessions, helping colleagues understand AI and use new tools confidently and effectively.
  • Work with data to gather, organise and manipulate information, using tools such as Excel to support day-to-day activities and projects.
  • Explore opportunities to automate and improve processes using digital tools such as Power Automate, helping make routine tasks simpler and more efficient.

Recent intern projects: a digital tools masterclass series and a cybersecurity initiative helping employees maintain compliant and sustainable laptop and mobile practices.

IT Intern: Business Partnering

Your role will include:

  • Coordinating IT support and working with external partners to resolve live IT issues, helping colleagues get the support they need.
  • Listening to users to understand their challenges and identify opportunities to improve or digitise everyday processes and ways of working.
  • Developing automated solutions using SharePoint, Power Automate and Copilot Studio, helping teams simplify processes and work more effectively.
  • Suggesting smart, secure technology solutions that respond to evolving trends while meeting Siemens Information Security standards.
  • Exploring opportunities to use AI to improve everyday processes, solve problems and make ways of working more efficient.
  • Supporting the delivery of AI literacy training alongside the User Engagement team, helping colleagues build their understanding and confidence in using AI tools.

Recent intern projects: an AI-powered knowledge assistant to help employees find information quickly, an automated calendar bringing together events from internal networks, an AI navigator showcasing Sales use cases, and a beginner-friendly SiemensGPT masterclass.

What we’re looking for

We focus on potential, curiosity, and your drive to learn rather than past experience.

This opportunity is open to undergraduate students looking to complete a one-year industrial placement as part of their degree.

  • Currently working towards a degree in Information Technology, Information Management with Business, Computer Science, AI, or a related field.
  • Enjoy working in a people-focused role, and able to confidently communicate and present ideas with clarity while actively listening to others.
  • Possess a logical mindset and a passion for self-learning and research, while being a fast learner who enjoys solving problems.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of AI concepts, tools and the M365 suite including the Power Platform.
  • Possess strong multitasking abilities with the capability to manage multiple projects whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Show curiosity about emerging IT tools/AI technologies and their practical applications in business environments.
  • Be confident working independently, taking ownership of tasks, and showing potential to drive and lead change.

Our fair & transparent process: No CV bias

We want everyone to have an equal chance to shine. While you’ll submit your CV, our hiring teams will not view your CV until the final stage of assessment. We evaluate your strengths, mindset, and problem-solving abilities, not just your background.
