Working in our technical team, you’ll develop core knowledge in your discipline while supporting some of the most significant renewable energy projects in the UK. You’ll have the opportunity to work on major projects including Dogger Bank and Berwick Bank, while also supporting our existing assets through asset management activity.

Over the course of the programme, you’ll gain hands-on experience that could include technical design support, engineering analysis, project delivery, operational performance improvement, and maintenance planning. You’ll work with multidisciplinary teams, build your professional network and develop the technical and behavioural skills needed for a long-term engineering career at SSE Renewables.

Typical responsibilities may include

  • Supporting engineering and technical activities across renewable energy projects and operational assets.
  • Working with specialists in electrical, control systems, telecommunications, mechanical or civil engineering to solve real engineering challenges.
  • Contributing to the delivery of large-scale projects including Dogger Bank and Berwick Bank.
  • Supporting asset management activity across our existing renewable generation portfolio.
  • Developing an understanding of the full project lifecycle, from development and design through to construction and operation.
  • Building the skills, experience and professional network needed to progress into a substantive engineering role.

What do I need?

We’re looking for graduates with a genuine interest in renewable energy, innovation and sustainability, and a desire to build a long-term engineering career with SSE Renewables.

To be considered for this role, you’ll need:

  • A minimum 2:2 degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • A strong interest in renewable energy and the transition to net zero.
  • A collaborative approach, curiosity and a willingness to learn.
  • The ability to take ownership of your work and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong commitment to safety and doing the right thing
