Your next role
Contracts, Commissioning and Business Assurance (CCBA) works across the Council’s Operations directorate, supporting front‑line services to deliver high‑quality outcomes for Swindon’s residents.
We provide expert procurement support, practical contract management guidance, robust health and safety governance, business assurance and project management. Our work underpins the effective commissioning of services provided directly to residents, making this an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that supports delivery at pace and helps improve everyday experiences across the borough.
This graduate role provides business assurance and improvement support across the Council’s Operations services, helping to ensure strong governance, compliance and transparency. Working closely with operational teams, you will support activities such as responding to member enquiries and Freedom of Information requests, monitoring compliance, and contributing to financial, performance and project reporting. You’ll also work alongside experienced colleagues to support business improvement initiatives and gain exposure to how operational services are governed and delivered.
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to build a career in local government, assurance or business improvement, offering structured support, varied experience and the chance to make a meaningful contribution to services that directly support Swindon’s residents.
Key skills and qualifications
- A degree in a relevant subject such as business, finance, governance, law, economics or a related discipline
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with an interest in governance, compliance, data or service improvement and a willingness to learn and develop in a public‑sector environment
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
The team operates a hybrid working model with all practitioners expected to be in the office for a minimum of two days per week.
