Our Opportunity
Thales Ground Transportation Systems (GTS) have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Solutions Manager (TSM) for Voice and Data to join the team and be aligned with our Integrated Communications and Supervision (ICS) Business Line. You’ll be joining the team during an exciting period of change with the ability to work with colleagues across the world. Around you will be a supportive Head of Technical Solutions as well as 2 other TSMs who look after our other business lines.
Reporting into the Head of Technical Solutions, you’ll be responsible for providing technical guidance and leadership across a number of operations including bids, projects and strategy. You’ll be the technical guiding mind for our Voice and Data solutions and also take ownership of technical governance.
Most importantly, you’ll be responsible for listening to, understanding and delivering solutions to the customer’s requirements.
This role will transition to Hitachi Rail as part of the transfer of ownership of GTS.
Key Responsibilities
- Development of technical solutions throughout the pre-bid and bid phases to secure identified business opportunities, via a network of Technical Solutions Architects
- Delivery of technical responses to bids, either directly or via the Technical Solutions Architects
- Ensure that solutions developed and offered by Thales GTS are seen by the customer as being credible, robust, practical and good value
- Support the effective handover of technical solutions from bids to programmes, to the nominated Programme Team
- Collaborate with the Business Lines and influence BL strategy and product roadmaps
- Support the Head of Technical Solutions in undertaking technical governance on delivery projects and ensure that the project adheres to the solution baseline, including the appointment and indirect management of Project Design Authorities
- Deliver pre-sales technical consultancy in a way that leverages future opportunities for Thales GTS
About You
- Be a strong technical leader
- Have prior knowledge and understanding of telecoms/networks
- Proven technical solution definition and delivery track record in telecommunications systems and a good level of understanding of existing rail solutions and products
- Proven experience in the development and delivery of safe, high availability, resilient and secure solutions, concepts, engineering principals and processes
Requirements:
- Ability to work collaboratively within an integrated team containing Products and Systems technical expertise
- Working knowledge and understanding of Voice and Data Communications technology, design, implementation and testing
- Strong technical communications at all levels
- Technical and personnel leadership skills
