Applications are invited for an enthusiastic Research Assistant / Associate to be a core member of the lab of Dr. Heather Machado in the Department of Pathology, University of Cambridge. The Machado Lab is interested in how tumour and immune cells co-evolve and contribute to cancer progression.
We use methods from evolutionary genetics and multi-omic datasets to study questions such as the timing of the immune response to cancer, the role of inflammation on remodeling the immune response to cancer, and the somatic evolution of the immune response to immunotherapy.
We are searching for a researcher to spearhead laboratory protocol establishment and lead the lab's data generation efforts. Primary responsibilities include tissue processing, flow cytometry, sequencing library preparation and protocol optimization. Applicants should have superb organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD; those without a PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.
