Graduate insight into securing a Consulting Analyst role with Accenture

Created on 10 Nov 2021

We recently caught up with Elliott about how he secured a graduate role with Accenture, how he built his commercial awareness before the interview and his top tips for Bright Network members looking to follow in his footsteps.

What stood out to you about Accenture before securing your role?

The breadth and depth of work that Accenture does across all industries and technology; the ability the company has to deliver end-to-end and at scale.

What is the culture like at Accenture?

It’s an inclusive culture, non-hierarchical and everyone I have had the chance to work with has a ‘can do’ attitude.

How did you show you have a passion for Accenture at the interview?

Showed my genuine interest in business & technology. Accenture is a people-oriented firm, so definitely highlight the importance of relationships.

How did you build your commercial awareness before the interview?

I recommend a lot of reading, listening to podcasts etc. – best way to learn is from the experts.

What's been the toughest interview question you've faced and how did you tackle it?

I cannot remember the exact question, but it was about the context of a case study from a team exercise replicating a real project scenario – tackled by simplifying the problem and intended outcome, and then breaking down the steps to reach the objective.

How have you adapted to working virtually?

I have found it ok actually, last semester of final year university helped with that preparation. Being virtual, it’s important to take the time to meet new people as you lose the informal coffee chats you get with being in the office.

What has been your working ‘highlight’ thus far?

It’s hard to say one, there has been many but being recognised and appreciated by colleagues inside and outside of project work is always nice.

What top three tips would you give Bright Network members looking to follow in your footsteps?

  1. Have a curious mindset – ask questions
  2. Be proactive with the areas you want to explore
  3. Be resilient – the hard work will pay off
