Juan's success story: Securing a Client Services Associate role at AlphaSights
Juan is an International Political Economics graduate from London School of Economics. He secured a Client Services Associate role at AlphaSights in London, through Bright Network.
First, please tell us a little bit about yourself.
“I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up, so I’ve always been very open to different opportunities across the job market.
My motivation was the opportunity to work with a wide range of sectors where, even if there are certain skills I’ll get to develop every day, there’s also something new in every project that will keep me on my feet and very aware of the current business landscape.”
What motivated you to apply for your role?
“I was motivated to apply for the role because of the wide range of sectors and clients I would have the opportunity to work with, along with the opportunity to work hands on and make real impact from day one.
AlphaSights made it very clear that we’d have intensive training and then go straight to working on projects which was very attractive to me.”
What was the application process like?
“My application process was very straightforward – I submitted my application then went through to interview rounds.
The process was quite standard and the Talent Acquisition team was really quick to get back to me.”
What have you learned from going through the process?
“It was definitely shorter than I had expected. At virtually every stage I received a phone call at the end of that same day telling me I’d made it to the next stage, which was great!”
What are you most proud of about your journey?
“I feel most proud about persevering despite the difficult state of the current job market for graduates.”
What are your tips for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
“The best advice I received and something that played a role in getting this job is to use any opportunity to stand out.
Use your cover letter to propose a way you could improve the service or product the company you’re applying for provides. You could propose a partnership with a different company, or suggest something to change on their website. It doesn’t need to be technical, but just something that makes you stand out from other applicants.”
Tell us about the future. What’s next?
“I’m excited to have some responsibility myself, to have real-life, impactful tasks to perform, whether they’re simple and routine tasks or long-term complex goals.
I’m looking forward to a bit of stability as well after the uncertainty of the job hunt.”
