Tell us a bit about yourself
I’m Jamie, an Associate in the Business Services sector team at Clearwater. I joined via the graduate scheme in September 2022, starting in Leeds before moving to the Manchester office.
Outside of work, I’m a big football fan - especially Manchester United, which has brought its fair share of highs and lows! I also love travelling and exploring new places around the world.
What originally attracted you to Clearwater?
During university, I completed a 3-month internship with the Leeds team, which gave me a real insight into Corporate Finance. I was involved in live projects, invited to socials, and supported by the team throughout, and it was this welcoming culture and hands-on experience that made Clearwater an obvious choice for me long-term.
How did the graduate scheme set you up for success?
The scheme built a strong foundation in M&A, helping me master core Analyst tasks without diving too deep into the more technical aspects too soon. Clearwater also offered several external training opportunities in Birmingham and London, which boosted my knowledge and gave me space to ask questions where I felt I needed to develop. Working across different teams and sectors has also helped me adapt to different styles of approach and grow professionally.
What do you enjoy most about working at Clearwater?
The people - without a doubt. The Manchester team makes every day enjoyable, and achieving great results together is incredibly rewarding. Plus, the social side is brilliant: from team golf days to playing at the Emirates Stadium, there’s always something fun to get involved in and it is actively encouraged!
What advice would you give to applicants?
Get to know the role and industry as best as you can - whether through internships / work experience or speaking to people in the line of work - to see if it’s the right fit for you. Also, I would advise to not be afraid to show your personality during the process, as Clearwater values who you are just as much as your technical abilities.
