Meet Rosy
My name is Rosy, from Suffolk, England. I study Classics at University of Edinburgh, going into my 4th year. I am the Club Captain of the Women’s Hockey Club, as well as an avid acrylic painter.
What made you apply for the internship?
I applied for the internship because it was open to people studying all degrees and after going to the NatWest Group Insights Experience for Women last year, I knew it would be a great opportunity. The Insights Experience involved attending seminars given by women who work in the Digital X function as well as working on real projects for the bank: developing a pitch on a business idea we created to utilise AI for saving accounts for young people. We were also given interview tips, and support on how to do well in the application process, which was invaluable.
What have you been doing so far?
Currently, I am working on a group project with other interns, having been given a brief on how we can use AI ethically to be world leading. We have decided to focus on how we support customers, utilising AI in the travel journey to build a report with information tailored to the customer's destination. We will pitch to our managers in a few weeks to form part of our internship assessment. I am also carrying out a research project within the Fraud Prevention department.
What’s been the highlight so far – and what are you looking forward to?
My highlight so far was attending the Fraud Operations Leadership Conference on my second day, where I had the opportunity to see the innovative ways in which the Fraud department are using AI. I really enjoyed seeing the care that NatWest has not only for customers, but also employees, prioritising their learning experiences, as well as meeting so many like-minded people on the internship.
I’m really looking forward to the wellbeing afternoon taking place at the Edinburgh Hub in Gogarburn. Here grads and interns will explore wellbeing topics and activities and get the opportunity to meet ‘Therapets’ – animals who help you de-stress – in aid of the Beatson Cancer Charity.
Anything you wish you knew before you joined the internship?
I wish I had known not to be nervous that I come from a non-tech degree – there are so many opportunities to learn STEM skills, and here at NatWest diverse skills and unique perspectives are celebrated!
