Hi, my name is Emily and I'm part of the Early Careers team at LCP.
Every year, I have the pleasure of supporting our summer interns throughout their time with us. One of the questions I'm often asked is, "What will I actually do as an intern?"
To help answer that, I've put together an overview of what you can expect from our summer internship programme and how we'll support you throughout your time at LCP.
From Day One
We know that for many students, an internship is their first experience of working in a professional services environment. That's why we focus on helping you settle in quickly and feel part of the team from the moment you join us.
At the start of the programme, you'll take part in an induction designed to introduce you to LCP, your department, and the people you'll be working with. You'll also meet your fellow interns, giving you the opportunity to build connections and share the experience together.
Meaningful Work Experience
Our summer internships are designed to give you a genuine insight into what a career at LCP could look like.
Throughout the programme, you'll work on a mixture of real client work and structured projects, helping you develop your technical skills while gaining an understanding of the work carried out within your chosen department. You'll work alongside colleagues at different stages of their careers and have the opportunity to learn from their experiences and expertise.
Training & Support
We want you to leave your internship having learned as much as possible, which is why we provide a combination of formal training and on-the-job learning throughout the programme.
You'll receive training relevant to your role, opportunities to develop professional skills, and support from colleagues across the business. You'll also be encouraged to ask questions, seek feedback, and make the most of every opportunity to learn.
Your Buddy
One of the key sources of support during your internship will be your buddy.
Your buddy will typically be a first year on our graduate programme. They'll be there to answer questions, help you settle in, and provide an insight into life at LCP, from the day-to-day work to the social side of the business.
Looking Ahead
For many of our interns, the programme is also an opportunity to explore whether a graduate role at LCP could be the right next step.
Throughout the internship, we'll get to know you and the strengths you bring to the team, while you'll gain a better understanding of our culture, values and the opportunities available within the business.
My biggest piece of advice would be to make the most of every opportunity. Ask questions, get involved, and be curious. The internship goes by quickly, and those who gain the most from it are usually those who throw themselves into the experience.
