Tell us about your background at LCP:

Meet Avneet Gill, Co-Chair of the Multicultural Network

I joined LCP through the graduate programme in 2019, after completing a degree in Mathematics and Economics at the University of Nottingham. Since then, I’ve progressed through the actuarial exams and qualified as an Actuary in 2024.

I’m now a consultant in our pensions actuarial department, where I support a wide range of clients on both trustee and corporate work. My role involves calculating member benefits, assessing pension scheme liabilities, and providing strategic advice to help clients meet their long-term pension objectives. A key aspect of my role is presenting our advice in client meetings, ensuring our clients have the insight they need to make informed decisions about their schemes.

How would you describe the culture at LCP?

LCP has a supportive and collaborative culture. As part of the graduate training programme, we receive regular development sessions – not only to build our technical knowledge but also to strengthen our soft skills, including communication and presentation. Many of us sit exams alongside our day-to-day roles, which can be demanding, but LCP offers a study package to support us. With so many colleagues going through the same process, you naturally form a supportive network where everyone encourages and helps one another through the exam journey.

Beyond the core role, there are plenty of initiatives and opportunities to get involved in. I’ve particularly enjoyed being part of the Multicultural Network, which has helped me grow my soft skills and connect with colleagues across the business – including those I wouldn’t typically work with in my day-to-day role.

What is your involvement in the Multicultural Network?

I’m currently one of the Co-Chairs of the Multicultural Network at LCP. I first got involved as a committee member shortly after joining the firm in 2019, supporting the planning and delivery of events and initiatives that promote cultural awareness and inclusion.

I became co-chair of the Network in 2022, and whilst I still get involved in helping to plan and run events, as co-chair my role has developed where I now take a more strategic view of the Network’s direction and impact. As well as working more closely with the broader DEI committee to ensure our initiatives align with LCP’s wider DEI goals.

What have you achieved as Co-Chair of the committee?

Since taking on the role of Co-Chair, the committee have worked to deliver initiatives that celebrate diversity, spark meaningful conversations, and build a more inclusive culture at LCP.

One of our standout achievements has been the launch of the very first LCP Cookbook – a collection of recipes submitted by colleagues from across our offices. More than just a cookbook, it’s a celebration of culture, identity, and personal stories. Each dish is accompanied by a story about the recipe from the contributor, where they have shared the memories or traditions that make the recipe special. This also raised money a charitable cause, encouraging donations to Action Against Hunger, with LCP matching contributions to maximise impact.

Another major milestone was our external client event: “Women’s Health: How can we collectively improve health equity?” This event was a collaboration between the LCP Health team, the Women’s Network, and the Multicultural Network, and took an intersectional approach to discussing disparities in women’s health outcomes – especially those that disproportionately affect women of colour. We brought together a brilliant panel of experts, and I’m proud that the Multicultural Network helped drive these important conversations not just internally, but also with our clients and the wider community.

Top tips for prospective applicants:

If you're applying to LCP, my advice is to research the role and the tasks involved and understand how your strengths align with them — whether that’s problem-solving, working with data, or communicating clearly.

It’s also important to understand LCPs values and culture too, and in particular what makes LCP different. Knowing what sets them apart from other firms will help you better prepare for the application process.
