Meet Ian
I studied my Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry at Imperial College London and Masters in Management at London Business School. Prior to joining Nuveen, I had internships in Multi-Asset Investment Specialist and Private Equity Investment teams. I have now been with Nuveen for just more than two months!
The real experience
What has been the single most important thing you learnt so far in your job?
Investment Management is a people business. Having good relationships enable you to learn from diverse expertise, collaborate efficiently, and gain exciting opportunities.
What surprised you most about working in this industry? What got you excited to come to work?
I am always surprised by the diverse backgrounds people come from, more often than not from non-business/finance studies.
I am excited to work in the Investment Management industry as it is always evolving. News and changes in different countries and industries can create new opportunities and it is our job to spot those trends early!
Culture & community
Have you had the opportunity to get involved in any activities outside work?
Absolutely! I am in the company run club every Tuesday and play tennis and padel periodically with colleagues.
Advice for future interns
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you before applying to Nuveen?
Nuveen is in a unique position in the investment management world. With the increasing popularity of alternative investments, Nuveen is a great place to learn about the world of private assets.
