Meet Nadine
While studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nottingham, I completed a summer internship here at Nuveen in 2023 with the Real Estate Investment Performance Team.
It was a really insightful experience, and I learnt a great deal with a great team and ultimately secured a full-time graduate role in 2024. I began my first rotation back in Investment Performance, and fast-forward to today, I’m currently working with the Industrial Real Estate Team.
The real experience
What surprised you most about working in this industry? What got you excited to come to work?
What surprised me most about the industry is how analytical it is. I’ve really enjoyed being able to apply a problem-solving mindset to real projects. As cliché as it sounds, every day is different – there’s always something new to learn and that’s what motivates me.
Advice for future interns
Looking back at the application process, what advice would you give your past self?
Don’t be discouraged by having an unconventional background – use it to your advantage. It helps you stand out and brings a different perspective to the table. And if there are opportunities within university societies to build the skills you want to develop, get involved. Those experiences can make a real difference.
