Getting started

When you start with us, you will undertake externally accredited training which will provide you with everything you need to hit the ground running and be successful in your role.

Your first role with us will be a Graduate Technician which will provide you with the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience. You will cover a dedicated geographical patch, where you’ll provide horticultural support to customers. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Watering, feeding and pest control of live plant displays
  • Complying with all relevant health and safety procedures.
  • Replacing dead, dying or overgrown plant displays.
  • Providing exceptional customer service and upholding a professional image at all times.
  • Assist with plant display and seasonal installations.
  • Offering valuable advice to customers on the upkeep of plant displays.

During your first year, you will participate in regular training sessions to gain a comprehensive understanding of our business operations. As you progress, you'll be encouraged to choose between three exciting opportunities: either a Sales Consultant, Service Supervisor or National Account Manager role.

Once you have spent a year as a Graduate Technician, you will be ready to start applying for your next role. This is your chance to choose a career path which aligns with your interests.

By embarking on your next role, you will gain a deeper understanding of the business, and the roles available to you, which is essential to your future development with Urban Planters.

Sales Consultant

Want to become our next sales superstar? As a Sales Consultant, you will be the face of Urban Planters, vising new and existing customers to build relationships. You will use the knowledge you gained as a Technician to determine the best solution to support with their requirements.

Service Supervisor

If you're interested in people management, our Service Supervisor role could be for you! You will support the branches operations by overseeing a team of Technicians, providing on-site support and supporting with office- based activities including stock control, compliance with company processes and coaching and developing your team.

National Account Manager

This role will allow you to focus on managing and growing relationships with national customers. Here you will work closely with local teams to drive growth, upsell to existing customers and build a sustainable portfolio.

What we need from you

Most of all, we need you to come to us with bags of ambition, and the motivation to build a successful career with us. Our roles are performance-based, so you’ll need to be ready to work hard and think independently.

Requirements

  • A minimum 2:2 degree in one of the following:
  1. Horticulture
  2. Forestry
  3. Rural Land and Business Management
  4. Agriculture
  5. Science-based degree
  • A full UK driving license held for at least 6 months, with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • A desire to work hard and have fun while meeting and interacting with customers daily.
  • Flexibility with working patterns to support business needs.
