What first drew you to apply for Ofcom’s graduate programme?
What initially drew me to Ofcom’s graduate programme was its rotational structure. I was particularly drawn to the opportunity to work across four different departments, spending six months in each. This setup offers a unique chance to gain understanding of the breadth and impact of Ofcom’s work.

I also appreciated the multiple engagement days organised by the early careers team during the onboarding process. These sessions provided valuable insights into the organisation and allowed us to ask questions about the programme in an open and supportive environment. The team was consistently approachable and proactive, sharing helpful resources and clear communications to ensure we felt well-prepared ahead of our start date.
What was your induction into Ofcom like—any standout moments or surprises?
The first week of the graduate programme was our induction week. We spent much of the week with the Learning and Development team, who introduced us to the organisation, covering the various streams and departments that make up Ofcom’s structure.
We also learned about the internal networks at Ofcom, which are colleague led extracurricular groups that foster community and shared interests across the organisation. A highlight of the week was being welcomed by senior leaders, including the CEO, and had the opportunity to ask them questions on their career journeys.
The week wasn’t all formal sessions, it was also filled with engaging activities, including the memorable “Ofcom Olympics.” It was a great opportunity to get to know the other graduates and apprentices and bond as a cohort.
What are you most looking forward to as you start your journey on the graduate programme?
I'm excited to learn and contribute through a variety of projects across the different rotations. I’m particularly looking forward to improving my presentations skills, engaging with external stakeholders, and refining my policy development skills through hands-on experience.
One tip I’d offer to anyone considering applying to Ofcom is to take time to research the organisation and reflect on how its work connects to everyday life. Now that I’ve joined the graduate programme, I can clearly see how Ofcom’s work is both relevant and impactful in ways that affect us all.
If you can demonstrate that understanding, showing how Ofcom’s mission influences daily experiences, you’ll be on the right track to submit a strong application. Best of luck!
