Archita's success story: Securing a graduate role at Accenture
Archita is a BSc Mathematics and MSc Data Science graduate from the University of Kent. She secured a place on the Technology Delivery Graduate Scheme at Accenture in Newcastle, through Bright Network.
First, please tell us a little bit about yourself.
“Growing up, I was fascinated by aircrafts and initially planned to pursue an aeronautical engineering apprenticeship. During my A-levels, I discovered that Physics wasn’t the right fit for me, so I chose to study Maths at the University of Kent because it played to my strengths.
After graduating, I started a commercial role in fintech but within a few months, I found that it wasn’t what I wanted to be doing on a day-to-day basis. This role helped me recognise how much I enjoyed working with data, especially analysing information and creating visual insights for users.
This interest encouraged me to complete a master’s degree in Data Science, where I found a genuine enthusiasm for the technical side of technology. Since then, I’ve been motivated to build a career in the tech sector, where I can combine analytical thinking with data-driven work.”
What motivated you to apply for your role?
“I was motivated to apply for the Technology Delivery programme at Accenture because I’ve always seen the company as a place where people genuinely grow and thrive.
While exploring graduate roles across different companies, I came across Accenture’s programme on Bright Network, and after researching further, I found that the company’s values strongly aligned with my own. I was particularly drawn to Accenture’s focus on continuous learning, upskilling and delivering end-to-end solutions that create real impact for clients.
Another key factor that motivated me to apply was Accenture’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Seeing so many strong women in leadership roles made the company stand out to me and reinforced my belief that this is an environment where I can build a meaningful and successful career. Overall, the company’s strong values and supportive growth opportunities made Accenture the ideal place for me to start my career in technology.”
What was the application process like?
“The application process was one of the most interactive I’ve experienced. After the initial form, three of the four subsequent stages were video calls with Accenture employees, which made the whole process feel engaging and personal.
I particularly enjoyed the business strengths interview, as preparing for it gave me insight into the type of mindset and behaviours that are valued at Accenture. The interview process also gave me the chance to ask interviewers about their own experiences at the company and how they’ve managed to succeed in their roles, which was both inspiring and insightful.
Throughout the process, every interviewer was incredibly friendly and approachable, which helped me relax and present myself authentically.”
What are you most proud of about your journey?
“I’m most proud of the resilience I’ve developed and the determination I’ve gained to keep improving. During my bachelor’s degree, I finished with a 2:2, which was difficult to accept, but it motivated me to return for a master’s so that I could show myself what I could achieve with a clearer focus and commitment.
Earning a distinction felt like a personal turning point and showed me that my potential wasn’t defined by earlier results.
At university, I also pushed myself by stepping into leadership roles within student societies, which encouraged me to grow beyond what felt comfortable. Balancing life demands with academic pressure wasn’t always easy but it gave me a stronger belief in my abilities and in the value of persevering even when the path feels uncertain.”
What have you learnt from going through the application process?
“During the application process, I've learnt the type of company that Accenture is and how strongly it values innovation and continuous growth. It gave me a clearer picture of the culture and the kind of impact I could make within the organisation.
Exploring the role helped me understand the culture more clearly and showed me the organisation’s commitment to supporting its people and delivering real impact for clients.”
What are your tips for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
“I’d encourage you to stay open to learning and to give yourself room to grow at your own pace. Progress isn’t always steady so being patient with yourself can make a real difference.
If I could change anything about my journey, I’d have asked for support sooner instead of trying to handle everything on my own. The best advice I received was to focus on consistency rather than intensity because steady effort builds confidence in a way that sudden bursts never do.
I’ve also found that seeking guidance from people who’ve taken the route I’m interested in has been incredibly useful. Conversations with them and accessible online materials helped me understand my options and keep moving forward without feeling lost.”
Tell us about the future. What’s next?
“I’m excited to continue building my career and taking on opportunities that challenge me to grow both professionally and personally.
I’m particularly looking forward to developing my skills in a dynamic environment where I can contribute to meaningful projects and learn from experienced colleagues.
I’m eager to deepen my knowledge and take on more responsibility in the future which I hope will allow me to progress in my career."
