Meet Lotachukwu, Technology Graduate Programme

Book open Reading time: 2 mins

"The most exciting thing for me has been the positive impact my work has had on our engineering teams and the products we deliver."

Meet Lotachukwu...

Who joined us in our Technology Graduate Programme. Lotachukwu explains what attracted him to Capital One, sheds some light on the company's culture and takes us through a typical day.

"My interest in Financial Services was driven by my background in Lagos, Nigeria, a city with a vibrant Fintech scene. I heard so much about the positive culture at Capital One during my job search, and when I downloaded a brochure from the careers site, I was really impressed by the opportunities on offer – to learn, to grow and to make an impact.

My heart was set on being part of a transformation in the financial sector; using the power of technology to make a positive difference to people's lives. And I've certainly not been disappointed! At Capital One, we're leading the way, and I get to be right at the forefront of that change.

In my team, we usually start the day with a lively stand-up meeting, sharing updates and prioritising our work for the day. I'll then follow up on activities from the previous day, then get into a bit of coding for an hour or so until lunchtime at noon. Most of my afternoons are spent coding or in meetings – making sure to take little breaks in between.

As a business we try to go above and beyond for our customers and you find that behaviour being replicated internally too. We have a very supportive and collaborative culture where everyone tries to go the extra mile for each other, no matter how busy they are."
