Bright Network has teamed up with Aon once again for Diversity in Data & Actuarial event series. Join us in October as leading insurance and financial services firm, Aon, provide Bright Network members with an incredible opportunity to connect with their teams to explore a career in Data or Actuarial. 

This series of events has been tailored to aid up to 30 of our brightest members from diverse backgrounds to launch a successful career in this industry.

Through this event series, discover a rewarding role that can offer you excellent growth and discuss its potential with the experts themselves. Attendees of the series will be eligible to get fast-tracked to Aon’s assessment centres for one of their actuary or data early careers programmes. 

The Diversity in Data & Actuarial series will comprise of an in-person introductory event, followed by 4 virtual insight sessions where you can explore different aspects of the data & actuarial career paths, understand what qualifications are needed and even practise your interview technique. You'll also be paired with a mentor from Aon, whom you can meet with regularly to ask questions and receive tailored advice.

Friday 13th October, 10am – 4.00pm Welcome event at Aon’s London headquarters

Tuesday 24th October, 10:00 - 11:30am Virtual session 1

Wednesday 1st November, 11:30am - 1:00pm Virtual session 2

Tuesday 7th November, 2:00 - 3:00pm Virtual session 3

Monday 13th November, 11:15am - 12:30pm Virtual session 4

Plus, separate 1:1 sessions with your mentor to be organised at times to suit.

All of Aon's insight sessions will be approximately 1.30 hours, with a different topic being covered each week.

Please note: by applying for the event, you are committing to attending and participating in all of the sessions. You will need to attend and engage in all of the sessions to be eligible for the fast-tracked application process. The Aon representatives will be on screen during the sessions, so it is expected that you share your camera too when participating in the virtual sessions.

Who can attend?

  • Undergraduates from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to Black, Asian amd Minority Ethnic students and students identifying as female or non-binary
  • Studying Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, Information Science, Statistics, Data Analytics or similar at a UK university
  • 2023 or 2024 graduates looking for a graduate programme
  • 2025 graduates looking for an internship programme or industrial placement
  • On track for a 2.1 or above and have demonstrated academic excellence throughout their education
  • Achieved an A in Maths at A-Level (or equivalent)
  • Who hasn't already been unsuccessful in any application to Aon within the past year

Travel details:

The launch event on 13th October will take place at Aon's offices (The Leadenhall Building, 122 Leadenhall St, London EC3V 4AN). The subsequent insight sessions will take place virtually.

For travel to the launch event on 13th October, Aon will support expenses up to a maximum amount. More details will be shared if you are successful in gaining a place on the programme.

NB: Those who attend all virtual sessions will be fast tracked to an assessment centre on a first-come-first-serve basis, but if we complete recruitment before you receive an invite, we will offer you a fast track to an assessment centre next year, i.e. when you are applying for a graduate role.
