What is memory? Does it matter if we forget? Can we strengthen our memory?
Memory is being able to recognise people, places - it is essential for all our waking moments, but it is malleable, fallible and open to suggestion. In this lecture, our Psychology Lecturer, explains how our memories work, discusses the ‘Seven Sins of memory’ (Schachter 2001), and explores creative ways to investigate and strengthen our memories, like through the power of music and smell. Real World Lectures are aimed at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students interested in studying Psychology.
