The role

Our lease extension and enfranchisement team is growing. It is currently made up of one partner and a paralegal. The team has a positive and can-do attitude, excited about working together to expand our presence in the market in this area of law. The department is supportive, offering training and development to ensure team members are able to carry out the role and develop their skills.

There is an exciting opportunity in our team for an ambitious, dynamic and hardworking individual willing to join the team and be part of that growth. The candidate will be required to have a genuine interest in the law, a degree in law (or other) is preferred and legal qualifications are advantageous.

About you

The vacancy is for a paralegal. Administration and office experience required. Previous experience with a law firm is advantageous but not essential. You will be required to work within the specialist area of enfranchisement and work on matters such as lease extensions (both informal and statutory), right of first refusal and right to manage.

The successful candidate will be required to work with the team on business development and have a willingness and ability to develop new relationships and support the grow of the work type that is carried out by this section of the firm.

  • General administrative support of the department and working through assigned tasks.
  • Daily duties will include – opening files, handling accounts matters, archiving, scheduling appointments, diary management and making applications to the land registry.
  • The intention is for the responsibilities of the person to increase whereby the successful candidate will develop to a team member that deals with new enquiries and becomes more client facing. Taking conduct of parts of the transactions. Gaining experience and training in this area of law so as to be able to explain the options to the client. Drafting legal documentation such as notices and leases / deeds of variation. Appropriate training, supervision and support will be provided.
  • Interested in taking an active role in marketing such as writing articles and blogs for our website and social media platforms. Willing to attend business development meetings in order to develop relationships with current and new contacts.
  • Attending relevant training and sector related events
  • Assisting with development of the processes and precedents within the department.
  • Be self-sufficient and well organised.
  • To cover reception duties when needed.
  • Taking calls – to take new enquiries / transfer the call to the appropriate team member.
