As we develop an enterprise-wide data and digital strategy that moves us toward greater focus on the use of data and strengthen our digital, AI capabilities, we are seeking a Data Science Platform Intern. In this role, you will work under guidance of the senior platform steward and engineers to apply engineering best practice and latest technology to new and already deployed data science applications and platforms.

Our tech stack continues to evolve: Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, PowerBI, Collibra, Databricks, MLflow, RStudio, Harness CI/CD, OpenShift, GitHub, JIRA.

As an intern, you will work closely with our experienced data scientists and engineers to support the development and maintenance of our data science platform. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Own personal development – a degree of guidance and support will be provided, but interns must demonstrate independent learning and skills and knowledge progress to be offered a full-time role.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to design, develop, and maintain data analysis and modelling tools and workflows.
  • Help to identify and troubleshoot issues with data quality, data governance, data pipelines, and data processing infrastructure.
  • Help users trouble-shoot, find right tooling or data. Assign or re-assign users to relevant platform permissions, offerings based on their needs. Conduct user training and one to one support.

Training will be provided to interns to develop in areas of cloud administration, platform engineering, data engineering, machine learning / mlops and AI solution engineering.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

  • Graduated or enrolled in a part-time degree program in a technical or analytical field or can demonstrate knowledge / experience in area of computing (work in technical support, completed bootcamp etc.)
  • History of high academic achievement in 80%+ percentile of student population.
  • Demonstrable problem-solving skills, problem resolution ownership and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Desirable, relevant experience:

  • Experience with providing customer service e.g., in a call centre, retail, or digital helpdesk.
  • Prior academic or work experience with any of: data analysis, databases, scripting and programming.
