    Barings' dedicated Emerging Markets Debt team manages over $15 billion in assets across corporates, sovereign, local debt and blended strategies. An integrated team of 20 seasoned portfolio managers, analysts and traders analyses the sovereign debt of over 90 countries and the corporate debt of over 1000 companies.

    Internship topic 

    The Emerging Markets Sovereign Debt team is looking for a graduate student (or recent graduate) of a master’s or PhD program in finance, financial engineering, or computer science with an interest in investment management and quantitative tools. The summer fellowship is to be based in Boston, London or Paris to work on the following topic: Portfolio Optimization

    The main objective of the summer research fellowship is to optimize an Emerging Markets Sovereign Debt portfolio, subject to various constraints, among them credit ratings, country limits, exclusions, exposure sizes, and various risk measures and limits. The fellow’s work will have direct investment implications for the team.

    Skills

    The candidate should be proficient in Visual Basic, SQL and in at least one other language with a preference for Python or R. Experience in SAS, Matlab or something considered equivalent a plus.

    Process

    Only graduate applicants will be considered. Deadline for application is Friday, February 24th, 2023. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted shortly after deadline and interviews will be held mid-March.
