Plant Oxford is the birthplace and heart of MINI production. Manufactured to individual customer specifications, hundreds of MINIs leave the plant’s assembly lines each day, off to meet new owners in more than 110 countries around the world. Three UK plants have had a part to play in MINI production – Plant Hams Hall makes engines, Plant Swindon produces body pressings and sub-assemblies for MINI, and all this comes together at Plant Oxford with body shell production, paint
and final assembly.

IT Services (Plant integration) Placement

We are currently recruiting an intern to support IT Services based at MINI Plant Oxford, commencing July 2024. As a member of the IT Services Team you will be assigned a mentor within the team to ensure a smooth and structured introduction to the working processes. You will be expected to take your own initiative and be responsible for planning and delivering a variety of projects in support of the department and the wider business.

The key requirements for this role are to be very confident with communication and networking, have a good knowledge of project management as well a keen interest in technology and innovation.

What will you be doing?

  • Get an understanding of the IT target architecture for BMW and utilise the knowledge to support the business unit with requirements.
  • Establish business requirements and translate them into specific requirements for developments with a clear focus on value delivery and a structured approach to requirement capturing
  • Developing a strong network with the operational teams in the IT department and supporting with operational steering and reporting topics.
  • Support members of the Services team with project work and adhoc tasks.
  • Developing approaches and measures to support with the communication of new IT developments within the wider
  • The candidate should be studying an IT, Business or Engineering related degree working towards a 2:2 or higher.
  • The must have qualification in or demonstrated knowledge of project management and delivery.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies would be advantageous.
  • Previous exposure to a Manufacturing environment would be helpful.
  • A valid driving licence acceptable in the UK is an advantage.

Qualification
