As part of our dynamic development in the distribution and formulation support for Food and Nutrition product development, the Innovation and Development Centre (I&AC) UK & Ireland is offering a placement opportunity for its brand-new laboratory facility in Leeds.

    The role

    This lab is part of the network of laboratories in EMEA working together to deliver value-added solutions to our customers. The Leeds laboratory will focus on development of food products.

    This role would require the successful candidate to work from our Leeds laboratory Monday - Friday for 37.5 hours a week and is a 6 month fixed term contract.

    Join a passionate and multinational team at Brenntag which is the interface between raw materials, product formulation and consumer products.

    In this role, you will have opportunity to gain experience in technical understanding about ingredient functionalities in food formulation in a variety of food categories and development of interpersonal and project management skills. It is a truly immersive experience to learn about food innovation and applications.

    Reporting to the I&AC Manager for UK and Ireland, you will be responsible for the following:

    • Contributing to the development or formulation using the latest raw materials to create product concepts
    • Conducting evaluation of products to demonstrate functionality.
    • Providing the correct reporting to the I&AC Manager
    • Providing support to the sales force to promote our raw materials and products.
    • Participating in the organisation for exhibitions and technical days.

    About you

    The ideal candidate would have the following profile & skills:

    • University student in 2nd year of a 3-year degree or 3rd year of a 4-year degree in STEM subjects or recent graduate with a degree in STEM subjects.
    • Evidence of passion and achievement in academic or non-academic activities.
    • Food enthusiasts and able to describe food sensorial attributes.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills and strong analytical mindset.
    • I.T. skills, including Microsoft Office software
    • Self-motivated with good organisational skills.
    • Strong verbal and communication skills
