This is a unique opportunity to join a nimble and dynamic team in Canopius’ fast-paced and rapidly expanding international insurance business.

From day one you will be contributing to the development of Canopius’ strategic direction and delivery; interacting with a wide range of business stakeholders on a variety of different projects and topics.

The Strategy & Operational Planning Analyst will help with the overall programme and project management of Canopius Group’s operational priorities and will support the Strategic Development Team drive strategic operational planning and innovation strategy which aligns with, and enables, Group strategic ambition.

Responsibilities will include

  • Supporting program management, particularly supporting initiative owners in the business, with training, troubleshooting and production of support and guidance documentation.
  • Gathering information from the different Regional Business Units, Capabilities and Management forums to contribute to reporting and recommendations.
  • Support the engagement with stakeholders in support of objectives and priorities.
  • Help coordinate teams to efficiently work together and to focus on the issues of the Executive and Leadership Team.
  • Involvement in strategic and innovation projects.
  • Support the execution of innovation ideas once they are raised i.e.; helping with the business case, ensuring they get the correct resources to be implemented successfully.
  • Assist in research, scanning the market / external environment to benchmark Canopius’ capabilities and to identify potential opportunities.
  • Partnering with SPO Manager to work with COO and Change Teams.
  • Attend all strategic planning check in meetings with core stakeholders, manage the actions and RAID logs, and produce weekly briefing notes for the Strategy and Operational Planning Manager.
  • Management of the operational planning tool, including new functionality.
  • Data analysis, including monitoring of areas of opportunity to feed into lessons learnt & continuous improvement of the strategic planning process.

Skills and experience

  • Educated to degree level
  • Good understanding of Economics
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills with stakeholders at all levels
  • Self-starter with ability to take initiative
  • Strong organisational skills with the capability to apply common sense
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to apply existing knowledge to a new problem in order to suggest solutions
  • High level of numeracy and analytical thinking
  • Desire to learn and develop expertise within the insurance market
  • Demonstrable ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines, whilst remaining flexible in approach
  • Willingness to take on administrative/clerical tasks with a view to gaining insight on the ‘bigger picture’
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 including Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint and Word
