The Summer Financial Management Associate Program (FMA) is a Leadership Development Program for MBA or MFin candidates and continues to be a significant feeder pool for the full-time Finance Associate role. Summer Associates have the opportunity to work closely with senior-level finance managers in key functional disciplines including Controllers, Treasury, Strategy and Financial Planning & Analysis.

Finance is

  • The guardian and communicator of key financial information and controls for Citi, serving both an internal and external client base
  • The driver of franchise-level decisions on capital planning, liquidity, budgeting, tax, strategic direction and policy management
  • A critical business partner to each Global Product, Region and Discipline, providing the data and analysis to enable Citi's leaders to make sound decisions in support of the business' objectives

Here at Citi, our programs are intended to help you build a broad skill set and accelerate your career growth by gaining exposure to numerous roles. Our program will help you discover the best fit for your skills and long-term career goals at Citi. Training is designed to aid Summer FMAs in maximizing effectiveness and efficiency in the workplace during your summer with Citi. Training will highlight current topics in the banking industry, technical finance and accounting skills, and communication and presentation skills.

Your time here will look something like this

As an Associate, your 10 week internship you will be placed into one of the following areas; Treasury, Controllers, Financial Planning and Analysis or Tax. Your day-to-day duties will vary depending on your placement but will include but not be limited to product control, financial reporting, developing financial controls, management reporting, planning and analysis, and management of balance sheets and liquidity.

The Summer Program consists of key roles that are identified and aligned with Citi finance objectives, structured for completion within a 2-month timeframe, report to finance professionals that can provide appropriate leadership direction, and provide the candidate with a variety of development opportunities and skills.

Whichever area of finance you spend your 10 weeks in, we will ensure you have the following;

  1. Access: You will be working directly with our senior finance leaders and carefully selected managers who will help you maximize your potential and develop your careers. You will be learning from the people who shape Citi Finance every day.
  2. Leadership: as an FMA, you will be viewed as the pipeline for future finance leaders of Citi. We will consistently encourage you to develop your management and leadership skills whilst with us.
  3. Responsibility & Empowerment: our FMAs contribute from day one. You will be part of the action and face the challenges of this analytical and dynamic financial environment. We will encourage you to take ownership of your work, your learning, and your career.

We want to hear from you if

  • You are due to finish your MBA in Summer 2025.
  • You are working towards an MBA or MFin with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, Business or Economics
  • You hold a significant amount of related work experience
  • You are technologically proficient in Excel, Word and Power Point
  • You have strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • You are able to build and maintain excellent business relationships

This role currently offers a hybrid working model, with a mandatory three days in your assigned office, and an optional two days from home. Citi supports this business model, subject to business approval.
